 A 17-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound around 4:50 a.m. Sunday morning in the block of 5800 South Whipple Street, according to the Chicago Police Department. The teenager arrived at Holy Cross Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower back. Medical personnel initially listed him in stable condition. Additional details were not initially available. Chicago Police Department detectives from Area One, are investigating this crime in the 8th District and Gage Park neighborhood. Initially, no suspects or motives indicated. A mob beat and kicked a man, and left him at the curb, unconscious in the area of Dearborn Street, Van Buren Street, and Plymouth Court. A final kick to the side of the head and neck was the blow that caused him to lose consciousness. At least 14 subjects were in the vicinity of the victim.
